Korean Village in Shengli Alley, Keelung, Taiwan

A Korean settlement in Keelung, northern Taiwan, where Koreans had resided since the Japanese colonial period. A post-war Korean community was formed as some Koreans who remained after the end of World War II settled there instead of returning home. In 1949, Keelung Korean Elementary School and Keelung Korean Church were established, and Korean and Chinese language education was provided at the school. Subsequently, as Koreans moved to downtown Keelung and other areas, the community declined, and the Korean Elementary School was closed in the mid-1970s.
